Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and a network of agencies throughout the city offer a wide range of services to help Philadelphia’s senior citizens achieve their maximum possible levels of health, independence and productivity.

Adult Day Services

For seniors who cannot remain safely at home alone during the day, are isolated or need extra assistance, these facilities provide a protective environment, personal care and recreational activities. Learn More

Behavioral and Mental Health

Anxiety, depression and other behavioral and mental health conditions are common in older adults, but are not a normal or necessary part of aging. There are resources available to help. Learn More

Emergency Resources

Emergency assistance programs are in place to help low-income older Philadelphians with urgent needs for food, housing and utilities, and to help victims of crime. Learn More

Home-Based Services

With the proper support, many people can, and most would prefer, to stay in their homes. Many family members prefer to care for their loved ones at home, but may need assistance or respite care. A broad range of services and resources is available to help make this possible. Learn More

Homeowners Resources

Resources are available for qualified senior citizens to help with home repairs, modifications, utilities, mortgages, insurance and other issues. Learn More

Housing Options

There are options available for older adults who want to remain in the community, but are not able to maintain their own homes, and/or care for themselves. Learn More

Information & Referral

Philadelphia Corporation for Aging maintains a specially trained full-time professional staff in its call center, called the PCA Helpline, at 215-765-9040. There are also other resources for older Philadelphians in finding the services and help they need. Learn More

Insurance & Benefits

Choosing the best options for health care, affordable and comprehensive health insurance and prescription drugs is challenging, particularly for those on fixed incomes. Counseling and information are available. Learn More

Legal Services

Individuals over age 60 can get help with a range of legal issues, including wills, benefits, taxes, small claims court, landlord-tenant disputes, mortgage problems, consumer protection issues and abuse. Priority is given to consumers with the greatest need. Learn More

Ombudsman Program

This program serves consumers of long-term care, including participants at older adult day centers and residents of nursing homes, personal care homes and domiciliary care homes. The ombudsmen help protect residents' rights and investigate complaints. Learn More

Protective Services

Abusive situations including assault, neglect and financial exploitation may be reported to PCA's Older Adult Protective Services Department 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 215-765-9040. Reports may be made by anyone. Learn More

Transportation

Older adults and those with disabilities are eligible for discounts and benefit programs. Learn More
